Peer review processes

Shivaanya Publications maintains a robust peer review process to ensure the quality, integrity, and credibility of the research published in our journals. We employ a single-blind peer review model, where the identities of the reviewers are known to the editorial team but kept confidential from the authors. This transparent and rigorous process involves several key stages, each of which plays a vital role in evaluating manuscripts and determining their suitability for publication.

Submission and initial evaluation

Upon submission, manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation by our editorial team to assess their alignment with the journal’s scope, formatting guidelines, and ethical standards. Submissions meeting these criteria proceed to the peer review stage, while those that do not may be returned to authors for revisions or declined.

Assignment of reviewers

The handling editor assigns suitable reviewers to evaluate each manuscript based on their expertise, experience, and absence of conflicts of interest. Reviewers may include members of the journal’s editorial board, invited experts, or other qualified individuals with relevant subject matter expertise.

Peer review process

Reviewers conduct a thorough assessment of the manuscript, evaluating its significance, originality, methodology, results, interpretation, and overall quality. They provide constructive feedback, suggestions for improvement, and recommendations regarding the manuscript’s suitability for publication. Reviewers also assess ethical considerations, such as potential conflicts of interest, ethical conduct of research, and compliance with ethical guidelines.

Reviewer evaluation

Reviewers are asked to provide an overall recommendation regarding the manuscript’s acceptance, revision, or rejection based on their evaluation. Their comments and recommendations are considered by the handling editor in making an informed decision about the manuscript.

Editorial decision

The handling editor considers the reviewers’ comments, recommendations, and their own assessment to make a decision on the manuscript. Possible editorial decisions include acceptance, acceptance with minor revisions, acceptance with major revisions, resubmission for further review, or rejection.

Communication with authors

Authors are promptly informed of the editorial decision, along with the reviewers’ comments and recommendations. In cases of revision or resubmission, authors are provided with clear instructions for addressing the reviewers’ feedback and revising the manuscript.

Revised manuscript evaluation

Revised manuscripts undergo a second round of evaluation by the handling editor and, if necessary, by the original reviewers. Reviewers assess the authors’ responses to their feedback and evaluate the adequacy of the revisions made.

Final decision and publication

Based on the revised manuscript and reviewers’ evaluations, the handling editor makes a final decision on acceptance or rejection. Accepted manuscripts proceed to the production stage for copyediting, typesetting, and publication.

Ethical considerations

Shivaanya Publications adheres to ethical guidelines and standards, including those outlined by COPE, ICMJE, and other relevant organizations. Editors and reviewers handle manuscripts with integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality, and disclose any conflicts of interest or ethical concerns.

We acknowledge the valuable contributions of reviewers to the peer review process and provide recognition through acknowledgment in published articles and certificates of review. We also offer ongoing training and resources to reviewers to enhance their skills and expertise in peer review.
